brians_fish_400_01Nestled in picturesque Pine Valley and along the banks of the North Fork of The South Platte River, Pine Cone Cottage offers a mountain retreat just 40 minutes from Denver.  Enjoy catch and release fishing just steps out your front door in our small pond or try your luck on one third of a mile of stocked private property on the South Platte.  The Colorado Trail meanders close by in Pine Valley Open Space Park, about a mile from the cottage.  There's also plenty of rock climbing, hiking, mountain biking and kayaking to be done here.  You can also walk into the historic town of Pine Grove and grab a bite at Zoka's-Pine Grove's full service restaurant and bar. cottagepatio3_150If you just want to relax, Pine Cone Cottage has several places to enjoy the sights and sounds numerous birds, and scenery.  If you like animals, you'll love our newly adopted donkeys, Maggie May and Lilly,  and four cats, just in case you need a fur fix. We are often visited by a pair of mallard ducks, deer, hundreds of hummingbirds, foxes, racoons and lots of chipmunks.

AMENITIES
Pine Cone Cottage offers a queen size bed and a full size hide-a-bed in an open studio layout. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator, large microwave, coffee maker, toaster, blender, hotplates and kitchen table over looking the river and valley. A Weber grill is on the front porch. Dishes and silverware are stocked, but if you need something special, just let us know. The cottage is also equipped with a cd/stereo, satellite T.V. and phone. The kitchen is separated from the sleeping and living area, so early birds needn't disturb sleepyheads. You'll have plenty of room in the marble, walk-in, double shower and even a skylight above the bed to admire the stars.

DirectionsHwy. 285 South to Pine Junction.  Left at the light at Pine Junction on Hwy. 126 (Pine Valley Rd.).  Go 6 miles.  Look for yellow 20mph. flashing light and brown "Pine Valley Open Space Park" near bottom of the hill.  Make a hard right at Crystal Lake Rd., then a hard left at the first driveway.   Follow dirt driveway down to tan shed and donkey corral and pull into continued driveway behind the main house until you see the Cottage.
